  1. okay, ZD – first, Happy Birthday! Hope it was enjoyable.

next, you MUST watch TTSS – I’m assuming it’s the 2011 film with Gary Oldman and Colin Firth? Soooo good, and don’t miss the Julio Iglesias song at the end! Now I’ll have to watch it again.

love the craftsmen! All of them! Check out Mr Shoe Shine on YouTube. Fascinating, addicting short videos of the skill of transforming old shoes into things of beauty.

as usual, it’s wonderful to follow your stream of consciousness in your blogs. This one did not disappoint.

  2. Hello Zulu. A Bodger is an old craftsman who turned legs and spindles for Windsor chairs using a pole lathe, often living in the beech woods around High Wycombe in the UK. The term is often used now for someone who makes a poor repair but that really should be a Botcher.

There are loads of old crafts which have largely disappeared when did you last see a Wainwright.

Try finding The Repair Shop on the internet, it’s a BBC programme where skilled craftspeople repair family treasures. I particularly like the the guy who repairs music instruments and the bookbinder.
