Letter G- Glen

This year, I will be doing “something new.” I have chosen a “theme.” I will be blogging about biking adventures. This will include riding tales, travel, stories, absurdity, insanity, adventure, and hopefully a little humor and nonsense mixed in; my favorite topics.

Glen is a man. Glen is a “bike man.” Glen is a man who organizes bike rides. He does not call himself “The Boss, or the CEO, or even The President of his company. He calls himself,  “Your Tour Director and Humble Servant.”

I have never met Glen. I have never been on one of Glen’s tours, but I want to and “someday,” I will.

Why? Because his tours look like so much fun and well run, and well respected, and exciting, and challenging, but there is one more reason I want to go on one of his tours; He has one of the greatest bike ride slogans I have EVER seen.

Ride Hard, Have Fun, Don’t Act Like A Jerk.

Almost every group ride I have made, I think of this slogan; whether it’s to remind myself of how to ride, or how I want “others” around me to ride.

Ride Hard, Have Fun, Don’t Act Like A Jerk.

Thanks, Glen; I hope we meet someday.

  1. When we were preparing for our Rick Steves tour of Europe in 2018, we got a packet of information. One part dealt with “grumps”. It said, “We reserve the right to remove any grump from the tour. Even YOU!” I loved it. And we had a great tour group!

    • It can be a huge problem. If you think of all the money, time, and aspirations involved, especially on a big trip, the group needs protection from the few “grumps.” That’s putting it politely.
